Bio RJ Thoman

I was raised in East Texas and went to Texas A&M University and Stephen F Austin University graduating with a degree in Agribusiness. After college I worked for a Caterpilar Dealer as regional sales director for the forestry industry in North Louisiana.

In 1990 I made a change if life moving to Mexico, and later moved to Cancun where I started selling Real Estate for Century 21. In 1994, when the peso devalued in Mexico, I moved to Celaya, Guanajuato (Mexico) near San Miguel de Allende, and opened a manufacturing company (Games R Us, Sa de CV) which ultimately became the one of the largest inflatable game producers in the world. During this time I also bought many small ranches, turned them into show places, and sold the property. Many of these properties, were ejido properties, and had to go through the regularization process, to obtain the titles.

This experience has been very beneficial here in this state, as many of the properties still have to go thru the same process to obtain the definitive title.

In 2000 I purchased property on the beach in Tulum, and built a vacation home. I moved here permanently, to Tulum, in 2003 and sold properties in the area. In 2005 I opened the RE/MAX agency in Tulum along with 2 associates. I am celebrating 18 years in the Real Estate business in Mexico.
