Soliman Bay is a laid back residential community located between Akumal and Tulum on a large crescent shaped bay that is excellent for snorkeling and kayaking. People come to Soliman Bay to aviod the frantic pace of mainstream tourism and just enjoy the simple pleasures of sun, sea and sand on a uncrowded semi-private beach. Accommodations range from deluxe little cabanas and beach bungalows to palatial hacienda/villas, all facing beautiful Soliman Bay. When you feel the need to spice things up with a little adventure, Tulum just 15 minutes south with its beaches, cenotes and pueblo for shopping. Akumal is 20 minutes north. And Playa del Carmen is about 30 minutes north. Soliman Bay is an excellent location for families or couples.
The homes on Soliman Bay all run on Pole Power from the local utility. A few still have their solar alternate energy systems as a reliable backup; a left over from the old days prior to pole power.
The pueblo of Tulum and the Mayan Ruins are 10 minutes away to the south with Akumal roughly 15 minutes to the north. Both Tulum and the Akumal area have telephones, money exchange, shopping and other restaurants. Tulum also has a major bus terminal.
So what do you do down there?... Besides lounging in a hammock you can walk the beach, sunbathe, bird watch, some homes have sea kayaks, there's diving, gazing at the stars, or just do nothing at all! The location is also convenient to numerous day trip adventures along the coast like the Riviera Maya's cenote freshwater pools, Actun Chen cave, various eco-parks & attractions, Yal-ku lagoon in Akumal, numerous beaches and of course Mayan ruins. People like Soliman Bay because it's a step back in time, away from mainstream tourism, back to the roots of the tropical experience.
